Barb Haberer, Founder, Consultant
Barb earned her B.S. in Microbiology from South Dakota State University in 1986. Early in her career she had experience with animal vaccine research and development and product quality control. She then moved to work with human biological specimens, and subsequently entered the entrepreneurial world. Barb has developed the functionality and usability of medical products, some of which are currently in clinical trials. From 2012 to 2022, she was a senior researcher in Alumend, an early-stage medical drug/device company. She has been published in peer-reviewed literature and holds numerous patents, both US and international.
Ron Utecht, Ph.D., Founder, Consultant
Ron earned his B.S. in Biochemistry from Iowa State University in 1983 and his Ph.D. from Iowa State University in 1986. He held academic positions at Dickinson State University (ND) and South Dakota State University until 2012. Ron founded several biotechnology companies to develop products, some of which are currently in clinical trials. From 2012-2022 he was the CSO of Alumend, the most recent of his biotechnology companies. In 2015 Ron received the South Dakota Entrepreneur of the Year award. He has been published in peer-reviewed literature and holds numerous patents, both US and international.
